Shipi-Navidad: A Holiday Event for Shipibo Kids

This Holiday Season, Shipibo kids who live in the city of Pucallpa will experience the joy of the season with your help.
We are putting on Shipi-Navidad, an interactive event for kids, where they will get to experience traditional Shipibo games, and drink hot chocolate and eat paneton, the Peruvian version of fruitcake, which are the modern traditional Christmas standards here.
Christmas is not a traditional holiday for many people, Shipibo people included. But the holiday season has been widely adopted, including here in the jungle. We plan to put on a small event in our cultural center space so that kids can experience something unique this holiday season, especially after this pandemic year where many kids have been affected by their parents' being out of work, and not being able to receive regular education.
If we raise sufficient funds, we'll also give small gifts to each attendee, so they can leave with a physical memory as well as an experiential one. Our focus is on the experience. We are a newly officially constituted non-profit organization based in Peru and we are called Oni Xobo, the house of wisdom. Joy could be considered to be an aspect of wisdom, as could generosity.
We have seen firsthand the joy that comes from participatory events, and the memories that last well beyond the event itself. The kids will be thrilled to be able to participate in this event, and we intend to share songs and stories so that it is an educational event as well.
We have a small production team that will put the event on and we all individually and collectively are deeply grateful for your contributions.
