Shipibo Tribe, Peruvian Amazon

My Father’s tribe, the Shipibo, in the Peruvian Amazon are in urgent need of food and medical supplies. Indigenous people are more threatened than ever before. Our elders holding the knowledge passed on by our forefathers are slipping away, at risk of losing unique knowledge of Amazonian healing traditions and their vision of the world.

The young Shipibo are delivering herbal remedies from the Matico plant to relieve some Covid19 symptoms. The local hospital is overwhelmed, there is no basic medicine left, including paracetamol. Funds are needed for food and basic medicine to help the Shipibo during the Covid period. Up to 80% of the population are likely to be positive for Corona virus and lack medical attention, medical equipment, with very few nurses and volunteers available.
