As the founder of the volunteer organization Masks For Covid, San Diego, we were faced with a new issue. The frontline medical workers are able and need of face shields. The shields are to keep on while working with patients who have tested positive for Covid 19 because it is spread most effectively through droplets and fluid. We have worked with medical staff in these situations to test and give feedback on designs that best meet their needs. Eventually, medical supplies will be made available to the hospitals but, currently the 3D versions are vital to keeping them safe.
We have had fiends and family printing and using their own filament and would like to purchase some so we can continue to meet the immediate need. We also need to purchase the acetate clear piece. Each mask printed is less that $4 a piece and if that $4 keeps our healthcare workers safe, they can continue to save us all, The cost is well worth it!
We will continue to make the handmade masks and now shields free to those who need it. If they want to contribute financially we have them donate to these go-fund-me accounts and continue to take supply donations to support or home productions:
I am so proud of the makers and volunteers who are pouring out their support:. Let’s keep San Diegans on the front line protected while we stay home crafting.
