Sherry's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Many of you may not be aware of our mother’s current medical condition. Sherry was recently diagnosed back in August with terminal stage four lung cancer that has spread throughout her body. This form of cancer has an average life span of less than 5% for up to 2 years. This is an aggressive non-curable form of cancer that she has been proudly fighting for the past several months. She has been through several rounds of chemotherapy as well as recently going through five doses of radiation to help with prolonging her life and mitigating symptoms.

Unfortunately, things have been deteriorating quicker than expected and we are now in a position where spending quality time together as a family is of the upmost importance. Our father, Bernie works as a contract operator and is unable to receive any government funding to care for Sherry in her time of need. Bernie can longer just care for her outside of his regular work hours, and 24/7 support is required to allow for Sherry to comfortably and safely be attended to. This has resulted in money being extremely tight as balancing medical costs, travel expenses to various appointments, and taking time off of work to care for Sherry has become very strenuous and expensive.

Any donations that are made will go towards allowing us as a family to spend what little quality time left we have with our mother. The donations will go to allowing Bernie to remain by her side for a little while longer away from his work to provide care, comfort and support without the impacts of missing out on his regular paycheque. Donations will also help with any funeral expenses when that time unfortunately comes. The need for help is urgent and it’s important to know that any donations made no matter the size will be extremely helpful, and we will be forever grateful for allowing us to enjoy these final moments together as a family.

Both Sherry and Bernie have been active in the community throughout their life, coaching sports, and Sherry in particular teaching at the high school and selflessly helping where she can. As a mother and wife, Sherry provided everything that we as a family could ask for, and for her final days we are wishing to return the favour and spend our time together caring for her, as she always did for us
