Sherri Rollan's Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
In February of 2017, Sherri Rollan became ill. After multiple doctors visits and trips to the emergency room,  she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in May of 2017.

Keith (Sherri's husband whom she called "the love of her life") and Sherri were overwhelmed.  Back in 2014, the Rollans had received a notice that their insurance premiums were increasing by $600.00 a month for just one of them. At that time, they made the decision to decline the coverage. They lived on a modest income and there was no way to absorb that kind of astronomical increase. They were just making ends meet as it was.

Keith and Sherri lived about thirty miles from the Cancer Center where Sherri received her treatment. They were on the road every day some weeks as Sherri went through multiple rounds of chemotherapy. At times, it seemed as if the treatment was helping. But as time passed, it became evident that the cancer was speading.

Keith was trying to juggle his work schedule and had to cut back his hours at the end of July so he could fulfill the ever-increasing demands of Sherri's medical regimen. As the cancer progressed, Keith became her primary caregiver, so he was unable to work. He had to leave his job at the end of October.

Sherri fought for life courageously until her last breath, but sadly, she lost her fight on December 20, 2017.

Now, Keith is facing the cost of her burial expenses. Not having worked full time in over four months, their income has been limited to what disability provided.  But that payment is cut off at the time of death. Adding to this tragedy, is the fact that Sherri's disability was reduced last month due to the generosity of some caring people who had given one-time gifts to help them. Because of the increased deposits to their checking account, Sherri's disability deposit was reduced by about 66%.

The gifts from caring friends covered utility bills, property taxes and food as well as gas to get back and forth from their home to the hospital daily, which is around thirty miles away. Her last hospital stay was approximately three weeks. That left very little to cover the cost of even the  most moderate burial expenses.

We have set up this Go Fund Me campaign to help him cover Sherri's burial expenses. It will take all he has left to make a down payment on the cost of a viewing and burial.

We are asking you to give generously to help Keith Rollan during this difficult time. The remaining costs after Keith makes the down payment of $500.00 will be $4,495.00. This covers Sherri's preparation for burial, viewing at the funeral home, the casket, vault, time at graveside and burial. The funeral home is willing to work with Keith, providing the remainder of expenses are covered quickly. If he has to go on a payment plan, they have told him the cost will be substantially higher.

We also want to replace the money Keith has to give the funeral home up front, so that he won't be left destitute after the burial. He won't be able to go back to work immediately, and this will provide for his utilities, gas and food until he can return to his job in January.

We appreciate your gift in any amount. Thanks for your help!
