Sheri’s Hope For A Cure

Donation protected
I am reaching out to family, friends and our community to ask for your support for our dear friend, Sheri (Adcock) Wilkins. For those of you who know Sheri, you know she finds joy through protecting, supporting and loving others. She finds happiness through volunteer work— protecting and rescuing animals throughout the Detroit Metro area, even going as far as opening her home at a moment’s notice for abandoned dogs who need to be loved. She finds joy working in the real estate community, dedicated to helping families find their forever home. Sheri is a loving wife, daughter, sister and friend. She needs our help to get cancer treatment.

Here’s her story:

Sheri has been fighting cancer for seven long years. Her fight began in July 2011 when a small lump near her clavicle turned out to be lymphoma. Committed to beating her diagnosis, Sheri and her husband Russ did endless research, consulted with leading experts and sought advice from their local doctors. Their search lead them to MD Anderson in Houston, TX.

From September 2011 until December 2012 Sheri traveled to MD Anderson and underwent an aggressive, 6 round series of chemotherapy treatments followed by 17 radiation treatments. The process was a long and difficult road. She handled unimaginable pain and sickness, hair loss, loss of work and decline of income with grace and strength. She continued with follow up scans and tests every 6 months for 5 years.

In September 2016, a follow up CT scan delivered devastating news: a suspicious spot on her lung. A biopsy revealed it was an aggressive form of lung cancer. Sheri underwent a difficult surgery to remove the cancer from her right lung. Sheri was barely recovered from lung surgery when another test revealed that the cancer had spread to her liver. Exhausted yet determined, Sheri traveled back to Houston to meet with her oncology team. They prescribed a daily oral chemo medication to help shrink the tumors and stop it from spreading. After several months, the liver tumors had shrunk enough to have an ablation to try and destroy the tumor.

Returning home, Sheri began the battle of recovery. She started a new chemo medication and maintained her rigorous treatment plan. However by April the tumors had returned in her liver and were even more aggressive. But Sheri is not one to take a blow and stay down. True to form, she traveled back to Houston to undergo more invasive tests. The oncology team informed her she is not a candidate for another liver ablation. She could do a radio embolism which involves placing radioactive balls in the veins of her liver to destroy the tumor’s feeding supply. Sheri is scheduled to begin that procedure in September.

Knowing the radio embolism is only palliative care and not a cure, Sheri, still not ready to give up, reached out to her local holistic doctor for advice on alternative treatments and a possible cure and she found hope! Her doctor has highly recommended she seek treatment at Hope4Cancer in Mexico. Hope4Cancer has successfully treated many stage 4 cancer patients and saved many lives with their integrated whole body approach. You can read about Hope4Cancer here: https://hope4cancer.com/how-we-treat-cancer

We are asking for donations, anything you can give so Sheri can go to Mexico and have hope for a cure. The treatment is costly, not covered by insurance and requires she travel and stay at the clinic for 3 weeks plus continued home and follow up care. Our goal of $50,000 will cover all costs and follow up care at the clinic and home plus supplements and daily medications. Please, please help if you can, Sheri is fighting for her life, any amount will help us reach our goal so we can send Sheri to Mexico and hope for a cure!
