Hello Everyone,
My name is Bernice and this GoFundMe account for my beautiful friend Sheresse O'Neill.
I first met Sheresse about two years ago when she was a new student taking the anatomy prerequisites in preparation of her candidacy for the nursing program at LaGuardia Community College. I was the Anatomy & Physiology tutor at the time and she came to the study hall often where I was able to witness her determination and perseverance to pass her classes. Sheresse dedicated herself to her studies, focused on her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, even challenged herself by taking honors courses and recieving awards for them.

LaGuardia's motto says "Dare to do More" and Sheresse decided to join the Natural Science department to tutor and to give back to students. With her outstanding, fun personality and interactions with students, Sheresse pushes them to be their absolute best, has built rapport with them and has helped them to pass their classes with flying colors. She comes highly recommended!
Sheresse completed all of her requirements, while tutoring others, and applied for the nursing candidacy. I'm proud to say that Sheresse was accepted into the Registered Nursing program, Fall 2017, and hopes to graduate Spring 2019. Sheresse is currently in her second semester and I am proud of her success thus far. Since working with her this past year, I am truly blessed to call her my friend!
Three weeks ago, she had a doctors appointment and through examination, and biopsies, she has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the age of 28 with no family history of the disease .
After meeting with her Surgeon and Oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Sheresse will undergo chemotherapy, surgery and radiation starting April 12th.
But until then, Sheresse is currently undergoing fertility preservation in order to ensure that she could one day have children.
This has been an overwhelming few weeks for her and she has had her ups and downs. Despite her diagnosis, Sheresse remains optimistic and is determined to continue school and work as long as she is able to!

She Needs Your Help!!!
This diagnosis happened very quickly.
Although Sheresse's health insurance does cover the cost of her breast cancer treatment, the expensive egg freezing and fertility preservation is not covered.
The LIVESTRONG Foundation helps with the cost of her hormone medications but they do not help with the cost of the multiple doctors appointments, the egg retrieval procedure or the transportation and storage fees.
There will be even more expenses as the months continue that I know Sheresse cannot pay because she will be unable to work until she is cancer free. Things like other pharmacy costs, rent, transportation or something seemingly simple like food.
Please help us reach our goal!! She has a wonderful emotional support system that consists of her dad, friends and professors... but we need you too!
