Shepherd in Residence

Donation protected
My publisher is retiring, and I am taking over the marketing of "Shepherd in Residence", my memoir of ten years keeping sheep in Northern Ontario.

"Shepherd" began as a series of letters on CBC's show "Richardson's Roundup". Years after the radio feature ended, I edited the letters and added more stories I had not had time to tell; the story of Fiddle, my cat who fostered a newborn lamb, and the hectic world of the sheep-to-shawl contest, as well as stories of the sheep themselves.

My plan is to buy out the print run to keep it from being pulped, then use strategic advertising, both print and electronic, and mail to sell my books. My target audience? Spinners, weavers, shepherds, and those who would like to be any of the above, plus anyone who just loves a good yarn - either the story or the fibre, or both!

I'm seeking funding to buy the books and place the advertising. This is a new adventure for me, thrust into the hurly-burly of small publishing.

Any donation will be gratefully received. A donation of $25 or over will bring an inscribed copy of "Shepherd" to your door.  Donate $100 and I'll knit you a pair of woollen socks, guaranteed not to wad up in the toes of your wellies! And for anyone sheep-crazy enough to donate $500, I'll knit a lace shawl in the North Atlantic triangular shape.

This is the Year of the Sheep, and it seems like the best of omens for making this project happen. Thank you all for even considering me. You rock!
