Growing up, our parents always taught us to be independent, to work hard, have an amazing work ethic, and to always help others, amongst many other things. Both of us have taken great pride in living life with these tenets. Having this type of upbringing is a really great one, until it is time for you to ask for help, because there is no where else to turn, and you see your loved one in such pain. This is something that both my sister, Shennan, and I struggle with, asking for help.
Unfortunately I have seen Shennan experience challenging times over the last 18 months as she has had her eyesight deteriorate to the point where she cannot work. While she is many great things, she is a worker and always wants to take care of her business and help others. While she cannot work, medical expenses are adding up very quickly and she is still in need of additional treatment so that hopefully her sight will not continue to deteriorate to full vision loss. It is a scary time!

A little of Shennan’s story…
Shennan is 45 years old and is known by many in her community as a sweet, loving, and caring individual who would do anything to help others.
In January of 2016, she was diagnosed with a critical eye disease. To help stop the rapid deterioration of her vision, she has undergone 6 laser treatments and 3 surgeries to stop the bleeding, remove scar tissue and repair a hole in her eye. Unfortunately, the trauma has taken a toll on her eyes, to the point that she was laid off from work in May, denied any assistance from unemployment or disability, and is unable to perform daily work duties at this time. Family and friends are rallying together to help Shennan during this difficult time with medical and living expenses. Your help and support would be greatly appreciated!
