Shelly Howden Appeal

To friends and family of our much loved Michelle ( Shelly) Howden
Please help us come together and show love and support to Shell’s children Ethan, Eli, Darawin and Kgari. Shell was taken unexpectedly and suddenly having no time to say farewells or share her wishes, which has led us here today.
We have created this gofund me account to raise money for two reasons
1. To support her children
2. To hold a Memorial event in her honour.
Shell’s children were her world and her best friends. The loss of their mother is indescribable in words. Although Shell was a hard worker and worked her whole life, her children have nothing without her, she was a single mother and a good provider, but the unexpected passing of their dear mother has left a massive gap emotionally and financially. Those who knew Shell understand that she would of never wanted her children to be left in such a situation.
As we (her family) manoeuvrer through this tragedy we are faced with financial battles that will have a direct impact of Shells kids. We all know that Shell would want her babies to continue living their lives to the fullest with hopes and dreams and we are hoping this may support her children to do exactly that. Shell always put others first and it is now our time to be there for her and support her babies.
To hold a Memorial event in her honour
Shell was a public servant for the Government for 25 years and was a Community Development Practitioner. Shell worked tirelessly for her Aboriginal community in various areas, always fighting for justice and equality and always being a voice for those who were voiceless. Her love and passion for her community was something many of us will always remember. Shell was also an educator, giving up her time effortlessly to teach and educate others of the discrepancies between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Any of you who ever sat with Shell or heard her story would agree that Shell shared her life and lived experiences so freely to many of us. She wanted us all to learn and understand the barriers facing Aboriginal people. Her willingness to open her life to many of us will always be the common thread that binds us together. Her intelligence, her passion and her love for community will be deeply missed by many.
Due to Covid 19 funeral restrictions, a lot of Shells loved ones especially those throughout her work career sadly were not able to attend her funeral. In the new year we would like to organise a community memorial event to invite all you have been touched by Shell to come and celebrate her life and pay honour to this incredible woman who we will never forget.
We are in discussions with the local council to find a place in Hervey Bay (one of her fav parks) to hold the event and nominate a landmark to display a plaque for our Butchulla warrior woman.
Your contribution is greatly appreciated and we will ensure you will be updated on progress of the memorial. Many blessings for those who have taken the time to read this and Galangoor nyin (Thank you) for those who have donated.
