Michele Faust's Fight Against AML

Donation protected
Michele Faust left her house the morning of September 12th 2017 not knowing she wouldn't be healthy enough to return home until sometime after the new year. A simple headache in the morning lead to a shocking diagnosis of Acute Myelogous Leukemia (AML) by the evening. Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee is now her temporary home for the many months of uncertainty that lie ahead.

As you can imagine, Michele's husband, Rob, is devastated by the news and he is trying his best to be strong for their son, Jaxon (13), and twin daughters, Ryleigh (10) & Peyton (10). The children miss their mother and are having a hard time understanding why this is happening. They need all the love and support we can possibly offer.

Michele is the manager for the print and mailing office at St. Benedict's Abbey Monastery. When she isn't spending time there, every minute is dedicated to her family and those close to her. Her nieces and nephew lovingly refer to as 'Aunty Shell' and they are waiting patiently to hear her say again, “Who wants to come to Aunty Shell's for a sleepover?” This woman is a very special person to all who know her. She is always willing to lend a hand and go the extra mile to show her family and friends love.

On the medical front, Michele has received multiple blood transfusions and is currently undergoing her first round of chemotherapy and will require a stem cell/ bone marrow transplant. Her only sibling, Christopher, has been tested for the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) and is awaiting results to find out if he is a match for Michele. There is a 25% chance that he will be an exact match and be able to be her donor. If not, she will need to be matched with someone on the National Donor Marrow Registry. You can learn more about being the match at www.bethematch.org

We have the opportunity to come together as family and friends of the Faust Family and shower them with love and support, just as they have so often shared with all of us. Michele does not know when she will be able to return to work and the financial stress of medical bills and mortgage payments will soon be upon them, when the rest of us are thinking about the holiday season. We are asking first for your prayers. Second, if you are able to make a financial contribution, it would give this family of five a little peace of mind, to help lessen the financial burden that comes along with the diagnosis of AML for a working mother. Your donation would allow them to focus fully on what is most important- healing and the road to recovery so they can find a new normal in their lives.

Word is just getting out about Michele and we are starting to receive heartfelt phone calls and messages from so many of you. We truly appreciate the outpouring of love at a difficult time like this. Please help us to stay positive so we can be a ray of sunshine for Michele- because that is what she is to us!
