Shelby's Stroke Fund

Donation protected
On September 12, 2017 my bestfriend and dad, Shelby, was found unconscious at 3 p.m. on our mud room floor. He had been lying there since 10:00 a.m. next to our golden retriever Ruby. After arriving home from work my mother Nancy identified the signs of stroke. Shelby was rushed to the critical care neurological section of Harborview Medical Center here in Seattle.

In Harborview hospital:

Shelby has been diagnosed with a Ischemic stroke, a blood clot formed preventing blood from reaching the brain.

Nurses, doctors, and neurological specialists monitor and check Shelby's awareness every 15 minutes. There is swelling on the right side of his brain which has resulted in multiple MRI's and daily CAT scans.

He is currently stable but unable to move the left side of his body.

The cause of the stroke has not been identified.
A stroke seemed impossible because Shelby has a healthy lifestyle: playing soccer and skiing with all of us weekly (he has a resting heart beat of 42 BPM).

We are uncertain but my dad could remain at Harborview for up to two months. This does not include intensive speech, occupational, and physical therapy in the forseeable future.

At this time we are not sure what the financial burden will be for the time lost at his company, and the cost of the procedures, surgeries, and medical care. This is a massive financial endeavor for our family and we are asking for your help. Donations of any size along with thoughts and prayers are greatly welcomed and appreciated. All donations are being put into a medical trust fund.
