Shelby has pallister killian syndrome. there are roughly 300 diagnosed cases in the world. there is no cure and it is something that will affect her for the rest of her life.
Shelby has acute mental delays due to pks. and because of the mental delays she is unable to walk, talk or sit independently. she also suffers from low muscle tone that has severely affected her ability to swallow, leaving her fully reliant on a feeding tube for all nutritional intake.
As her parents, our only wish for her is that she can live a happy, healthy life in the most normal way possible. we have recently discovered a company that manufactures 2 devices that we feel would help shelby be able to go out and explore her world and live a more normal, comfortable life!!
The first is the gotoseat. it's a light weight, portable seating device that can be strapped to most any chair or seat. shelby would be able to sit at the table with her families for dinner at home or a restaurant. it can be used to secure her on a wagon ride with her little brothers! or on a plane for a family vacation!
The second is the upsee. it is a light weight harness that would make it possible for shelby to walk with us! many of you may have seen the articles floating around social media! it is a wonderful tool to help show shelby that there is a purpose for walking, while keeping her close to us for comfort and security. what better why to explore her world than with mommy and daddy right there with her?!
Unfortunately, insurance is a finicky thing! they will only cover one seating and one mobility device within a certain time frame. so they will not cover either of these pieces of equipment. even the smallest donations add up! with your help, we can get shelby up, exploring this beautiful world of hers. (any amount raised over our goal will be put into a savings account for any further needs that will come up.)
