On June 4th, 2017, my sister went to the hospital after experiencing headaches, a spike in blood pressure, and loss of peripheral vision in her left eye.  This event was scary and she had never been in the hospital other than giving birth to her three beautiful daughters.  The examination from the doctors and specialist found two brain tumors in the right hemisphere of her brain.  When surgery was scheduled after five days in Methodist hospital in Sugarland, they determined her insurance was out of network and would need to be moved to another hospital to conduct the surgery.  She was moved to Saint Luke’s Hospital in the medical center downtown Houston, Texas, which resulted in the doctors outlining a surgery plan which would involve two separate surgeries to remove the tumors in her brain.

The tumors were removed successfully five days apart (6/12 and 6/16).  She has been given the diagnosis of a Glioblastoma (an aggressive grade 4 brain tumor) that will require radiation and chemotherapy.  This type of cancer is so aggressive that it can reoccur and would require surgery with additional regimens of treatment.  The cost of treatment not covered by insurance, the loss of income because of her illness, continued loss of vision in her left eye, and the required MRI scans every 2 months for the rest of her life, this brings me to ask for your help as my sister begins her journey to fight her cancer!
