Cleanup for Houston
Donation protected
Your donations will go to towards clean up, mold remediation, drywall, and, insulation for working class homes. Labor and supervision is being performed by volunteers.
We will be purchasing cleaning supplies, drywall, insulation, and mold treatments. I want to be clear. We will not be rebuilding homes. We will not be replacing personal belongings. We will not rebuild kitchens. We will not be replacing flooring. We will not be painting. We will not even float walls.
We will be making affected homes safe to live in. We will remove water damage. We will clean and treat for toxic black mold. We will have air quality tests performed. We will replace insulation and drywall.
So many people have lost so much. Regular people who have worked their adult lives to build something now have to start over. This effort is just to get them safely back into their homes.
My procedure is to:
1) Cut and remove damaged drywall up to 4 feet.
2) Cut and remove insulation up to 4 feet.
3) Dry studs and bottom plate with de-humidifiers and fans
4) Clean with bleach solution
5) Treat with a germicidal mold killer
6) Apply a mold killing primer to studs and bottom plate
7) Test air quality and provide inspection report
* Repeat steps 6 and 7 until air quality is acceptable
8) Replace insullation
9) Replace drywall
After drywall is replaced, families can move back in. Plenty of work will still need to be done but at least the homes will be safe. I have two families identified and I believe we can help a third with our goal.
We are working know. The sooner we act, the easier this will be. We are working nights and weekends. I only ask for Sunday's off so I can honor God and spend the day with family.
This is about adding a bit of normalcy back into the lives of people who will receive the least amount of assistance. Yet they will have lost everything. And this is something I want to do. I want to help and I'm trying to find ways to continue helping.
