Help a Mother Bring Her Daughter Home After Tragedy That Should’ve Never Happened and Fight a System That Failed Her

My 15 year old sister is fighting for her life after being shot three times, left at a party in a dangerous neighborhood by the one person who was supposed to protect her: her father.

For the last 4 years, my sister’s life has been in chaos, constant suspensions for fights at school and outside of school, grades dropping, disappearing every weekend, and even getting tattoos and piercings at just 14!! All without the knowledge or consent of the woman who raised her: our mother.

Our mother is a single mom of five ! strong, selfless, and fiercely loving. She raised my sister with love, structure, and sacrifice. But during what was supposed to be a court-ordered visit with her father, my sister was taken and never brought back. From that moment, the court system in Michigan has failed her, ignoring her voice, her rights, and the truth.

She has spent years traveling back and forth from Florida to Michigan, spending every dime she had just to see her daughter when allowed and only when she could beg for it. Every visit she’s had came from keeping peace with a manipulative, narcissistic man who was once absent for 10 years of my sister’s life. And now he’s trying to profit off of her tragedy.

My mother never missed work, never. But recently, she’s been recovering from a hip replacement, and even through that, she’s continued to fight to be present for her children. Still, she hasn’t found the strength to stand up fully for herself in the face of all of this injustice.

But I’m standing up for her now. Because I refuse to watch her fight this alone anymore.

Since arriving in Michigan to be by her daughter’s side, she’s spent everything she had on food, hospital costs, even thoughtful little things like her daughters favorite candy, just to bring a little peace to her in this terrifying time.

We’re asking for help. These funds will go directly toward:

• Hiring an attorney to fight for full custody and finally bring her daughter home for good.

• Travel and emergency car repairs after breaking down on her way to her daughter’s hospital bed.

• Lodging and ongoing expenses while she remains by her daughter’s side.

• Support for her daughter’s recovery from medical needs to emotional care.

We are not just fighting for her custody, we’re fighting for her life, her healing, and the chance to give her a future filled with love and safety.
