<div>️ She Tried to Get Away: Justice for Mya Walls | Funeral &amp; Survivor Recovery Fund
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**She asked for help. She tried to get away. She deserved to live.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On October 8, 2026, our family experienced a nightmare that no family should ever have to endure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**Amaya “Mya” Walls was just 20 years old when her life was tragically stolen by domestic violence.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Twenty years old.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She should have been planning her future, celebrating birthdays, making memories, chasing her dreams, and enjoying all the beautiful moments life had waiting for her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Instead, her family is now preparing to lay her to rest.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**And the most heartbreaking part? Mya tried to get help before she was killed.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Earlier that same day, Mya had been assaulted by a man she had previously sought protection from. Police were called. According to the criminal complaint, officers heard him threaten to shoot Mya and the house. She had already reported a history of threats and abuse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our family believed that help was coming. We believed that after everything that happened, she would be safe.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But just hours later, Mya was shot and killed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Another beloved member of our family was also shot and survived.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**One young woman lost her life. Another is fighting to recover. And our entire family is left carrying a pain that words cannot begin to describe.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mya wasn't just another headline.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She wasn't just another victim of gun violence.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**She was somebody's daughter. Somebody's niece. Somebody's cousin. Somebody's whole world.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She was loved. She mattered. She had a future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And she deserved to grow old.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No family should have to bury a 20-year-old because someone refused to let her walk away.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No woman should have to fear for her life because she wants to be free from an abusive relationship.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No family should have to wonder whether more could have been done to prevent the unimaginable.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**Mya deserved protection. Mya deserved peace. Mya deserved LIFE.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, our family is facing two heartbreaking realities.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We must find the strength to give Mya a beautiful and dignified homegoing while also helping our surviving loved one navigate the painful road to recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Out of concern for the survivor's safety and privacy, we will not be sharing her photograph or identifying details. We ask that everyone respect this decision as our family continues to seek justice.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Why We Need Your Help
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are humbly asking our community, friends, loved ones, and anyone moved by Mya's story to stand with our family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your donations will help cover:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>- **Mya's funeral and burial expenses**, so we can give her the loving farewell she deserves.
</div>
<div>- **Memorial and celebration-of-life arrangements** to honor her memory.
</div>
<div>- **Medical expenses and recovery needs** for our surviving loved one.
</div>
<div>- **Necessary family support and unexpected expenses** resulting from this tragedy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We cannot bring Mya back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We cannot give her another birthday, another Christmas, another hug, or another chance to tell her family she loves them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But together, we can help ease the financial burden of this tragedy and make sure her family has the support needed to grieve, heal, and seek justice.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This Is Bigger Than One Family
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Domestic violence is not always something a person can simply walk away from.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sometimes leaving is the most dangerous moment of all.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mya tried to get away.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She sought help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She deserved to make it home safely.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**Her story is a painful reminder of why victims of domestic violence must be heard, believed, and protected before it is too late.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are sharing her story not only because we want justice for Mya, but because we hope another young woman, another mother, another daughter, or another family can be spared this unimaginable heartbreak.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please Help Us Honor Mya
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you can donate, no amount is too small.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you cannot donate, please share this fundraiser. Share Mya's story. Say her name. Help us make sure she is never forgotten.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every donation, every share, and every prayer means more than words can express.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our hearts are broken, but our love for Mya will never die.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**She was only 20. She had so much life left to live.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We should be celebrating her future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Instead, we are planning her funeral.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**Please help us lay our beautiful Mya to rest and support the loved one who survived.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

</div>
<div>**Forever 20. Forever Loved. Forever Missed.**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**Her life mattered. Her story matters. Justice for Mya.**
