She Persisted: An Abortion Rights Fundraiser

Donation protected
About
On June 24th, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and the constitutional right to abortion. Since then, at least 11 states have banned abortion and 12+ others have moved to ban or restrict access to them. The repercussions will be vast: research has demonstrated that a lack of access to safe, timely, and legal abortion negatively affects economic opportunity, impacting education, careers, and earnings. These outcomes are particularly concentrated among the most marginalized communities: people of color, trans and nonbinary people, and people who are low-income. This campaign aims to raise $5,000 dollars for non-profit charities (see below) that connect people with abortion services and advocate for abortion rights at the local, state, and federal levels.

How to donate to this fundraiser
  • Option #1: Donate via this GoFundMe. 100% of donations will be evenly split between the 4 non-profits. **Donation receipts will be shared here no later than August 12th!**
  • Option #2: Purchase an eligible item from one of our makers' shops, and proceeds will also be evenly split between the four charities.

Non-profits
  • The Brigid Alliance: The Brigid Alliance is a referral-based service that provides travel, food, lodging, child care and other logistical support for people seeking abortions. We prioritize clients beyond 15 weeks of pregnancy for whom it’s generally more expensive and harder to find a provider near home.
  • SisterSong: SisterSong is a Southern-based, national membership organization; our purpose is to build an effective network of individuals and organizations to improve institutional policies and systems that impact the reproductive lives of marginalized communities. SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective was formed in 1997 by 16 organizations of women of color from four mini-communities (Native American, African American, Latina, and Asian American) who recognized that we have the right and responsibility to represent ourselves and our communities, and the equally compelling need to advance the perspectives and needs of women of color.
  • Elevated Access: We recognize that not all people have access to the healthcare they need due to stigma in their community. Because we believe everyone deserves access to healthcare such as abortion and gender-affirming care, our volunteer pilots provide free transportation to get people where they can get the care they need to live their best life.
  • Indigenous Women Rising: Indigenous Women Rising is committed to honoring Native & Indigenous People's inherent right to equitable and culturally safe health options through accessible health education, resources, and advocacy.

Why these non-profits?
These non-profits were chosen because they represent and seek to advocate for people and communities that are the most impacted by abortion bans and restrictions. They are a balance of organizations dedicated to helping people right now and ones that are actively working across multiple systems to fight for abortion rights and reproductive justice at the legislative level.
