Help My Mom & Her Dog Find a Safe Place to Live Before Winter

Hi, my name is Nicki, and I’m raising funds for my mom, Traci, and her beloved dog, Charleigh, who are facing a heartbreaking housing crisis.

My mom is 57 years old and lives with bipolar II disorder and schizophrenia. She receives just $1,115 a month through Social Security, which is simply not enough to cover stable housing and basic needs. Despite her challenges, she has always done her best to live independently, care for her dog, and make the most of what little she has.

About four years ago, her world was turned upside down when she lost her mobile home due to some extremely shady and heartbreaking actions by family members. Her mom and half-sister managed to sell her home out from under her, leaving her with nothing.

With nowhere else to turn, she entered low-income housing through HUD. Sadly, the company she ended up with has since been exposed for widespread fraudulent practices. My mom didn’t know this when she moved in. Eventually, she was wrongfully evicted, and worse, they charged her over $4,000 to dispose of her belongings — things she was forced to leave behind when she had nowhere to move them.

Now, that wrongful eviction is stuck on her record, making it nearly impossible to find a landlord who’s willing to rent to her — even if she can scrape together the money. She's terrified, especially with winter approaching, that she and her dog will end up on the street and freeze. She doesn’t have anyone else to turn to, and we’re running out of time and hope.

How You Can Help

We are trying to raise $7,500 to cover:

•First month’s rent + security deposit

•Pet deposit for her dog(or money to get a certificate for ESA)

•Application fees

•Help with basic moving costs

•Emergency essentials while she transitions into a new place
