This world is a hard place...navigating life has never been more difficult for a teenage girl than it is today. In times when they struggle, the support around them can mean more than anyone knows! There are incredible people who truly make a difference in the the lives of those around them....sometimes it's simply because they are who they are!

Shyan and Elizabeth are people who make the world better for others simply by being a part of their lives. It isn't surprising that a child becomes an incredible human when they are being raised by another one! These two are testament to that!

Elizabeth is a best friend to both of my girls. She is genuine, caring and accepts everyone for who they are. She endlessly supports and uplifts her friends. She inspires them to be themselves and to be proud of who they are. Where others tear people down, Elizabeth builds them up. Her energy, personality, genuine heart, quick wit and caring nature is something the world needs more of. But right now, she needs us.

Elizabeth is facing a long road ahead with health issues that are going to need long term treatment. She is currently in the hospital (in Winnipeg) and will be for quite a few weeks. Once she finally is able to leave, she will have to stay in Winnipeg for treatment for months. Living in a small town 1.5 hours away means that Shyan is staying in the city with her. While she has been able to secure a place to stay, that doesn't eliminate all the costs associated with not working, paying for food, parking, and more. If you have ever had a loved one sick in the hospital, you know how draining it is....how you never truly feel rested...how you lose sleep worrying if they are okay or if they will continue to improve... having financial worries on top of this is a stressor no one needs.

Shyan has reluctantly agreed to let us help! This is a time when family and friends feel so helpless because we can't make this go away or do a quick fix. Many of us want to help but how? This is where this fund comes in! I know times are tough with the economy right now but think of what we could do to support Shyan and Elizabeth (and Tyler at home holding down the fort while his wife and step-daughter are in Winnipeg)! If 100 people donated $5, that could take so much stress of the shoulders of the family and give them control and peace of mind in at least one situation right now. And I know many of us will give more than $5 which is even better.

While Elizabeth is living in Winnipeg during treatment, she will need a laptop to continue her education online. This is something the family currently doesn't have. So let's help them get one. And while we are at it, let's help take the pressure of expenses, bills and everything else off too....at least for a while.
