Shayne's medical expenses

Donation protected
Recently I took my husband, Shayne, to Phoenixville hospital with stroke-like symptoms.  When he was evaluated, they did confirm a stroke, and wanted to start treatment immediately.  But I sensed there was something else going on, so I insisted he be transferred to Jefferson for further evaluations.

When he arrived at Jefferson, they found that he had a fistula (an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein in his brain which he was probably born with) and needed to operate immediately.  They believe that this was the cause of the stroke.  So, he actually went through brain surgery and a stroke within 48 hours and was given a 1-50% chance of making it through.

Once he survived the sugery, the doctors started to prepare me for his recovery, which would include rehabilitation.  At first, they thought he would need 2-3 weeks of in-patient rehab, but based on his post-op recovery, 3 weeks in ICU, they've revised the rehabilition timeframe to 6 months-1 year.   He'll need to re-learn how to eat, talk, use his left arm, and walk.   He has episodes of severe nightmares and confusion, but at other times is coherent and able to remember details of what happened.

He has recently made some small improvements in his recovery since having a feeding tube permanently inserted so that he can get proper nutrition.  This allowed him to finally leave Jefferson to start the process of rehabilitation at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital, where he is currently receiving PT, OT, Speech and Psychological services.

He is finally having success eating, but we know recovery is going to be long and hard for him.  I am still working out the details of what compensation we are entitled to, but I know that it will never be enough to cover the medical expenses or our household bills especially without his income.   Shayne was the bread-winner, he was the worker, he always did what he needed to provide for our family.  Without his full income, I'm at a loss as to how we will get through the next year.

I would appreciate any donation you could make to Shayne's medical bills and our family's mortgage, no matter how small.  Any little bit  will help me to get through these hard times, which right now seem impossible.  Please also share this post on your own FB page.  Every little bit will help!

Thank you so much,
