Shawns Cancer Relief Campaign

Our friend Shawn Gilley was recently diagnosed with stage 3 nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.  In late October Shawn went to see his primary doctor with a lump in his neck which caused his ear to ache. When first checked  Shawn was diagnosed with an ear infection, swollen glands and given anti-biotics.  Within the next couple of weeks Shawn's symptoms continued to worsen he started having severe headaches caused from pressure due to an undiscovered growing tumor.  This lead to several tests and sleepless nights waiting and wondering for both Shawn and his partner Miranda.  After the initial diagnosis and further testing it was discovered that Shawn did in fact have cancer and it had spread to the base of his skull.  Due to where the cancer is located Shawn did not have much time to process the stuation before he immediatly started to prepare for Radiation and Chemotherapy.  Within a week of his diagnosis all of Shawns teeth had to be removed (this was a very traumatic event for him and some of the money raised from this will go toward making his smile pretty again!), his crazy beautiful hair cropped off, his pirate beard shaved, a port inserted into his chest for medical injections, chemo etc and another inserted into to stomach for a feeding tube.  Shawn and Miranda had waited until they knew exactly what the course of action would be before telling their family and young children as to spare them from worrying but everyone knows now and they are soldiering through this together.  Shawn is exhausted most days, he has appointments for radiation and chemo etc every day for at least the next 2 months.  Due to the exorbant amount of time they have both had to take off from working and the mounting bills, life is pretty rough for their family right now.  Being stressed about the monatary situation is not good for Shawn's recovery and we would really like to try and help.  Any donation will be greatly appreciated and put to good use!
