I started ShawnaShares with the hopes of supporting and promoting indie artists, especially single Moms, including myself.
The Nashville and Columbus community of artists who relied on live music opportunity to support us has been hit hard, on top of a major storm that came through Nashville. I was also working full time as a freelance communications consultant with one employer to support my kids in college and cover the bills with my day job, since music and writing has costed me more than I have ever earned thus far. I was let go from my job on March 13 in the midst of the covid crises and have applied for unemployment and support grants. Everything seems to be moving slow and pending, so I am about at the end of my rope. I have helped many other artists and constructors apply for grants and unemployment as well, but whoever is raising those funds has not actually distributed them to anyone I know.
I released Catch 22, a new album of music on 2-22-2020 and finished my new book, ReleaSING with the stories behind the past ten years of songs. I still hope to release the book and tour with the support of major publisher, with plans for Release Retreats. If you know of anyone who can help with this, please let me know. And if you are able to and choose to support through ShawnaShares, there are several packages that you can choose from. I will be sharing any support I receive with other artists in need and I will post updates here.
Thank you for your encouragement and support through the years. You can also link to buy music and books from Shawna Ray website
