Shawn Sandling Battling ALS

Shawn is a 52 year old woman and a very dear friend of mine. She and her husband Ed have been married for 27 years  and they are the proud parents of 2 rescue dogs and she loves the HAWKS and CUBS. She was recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in October of 2017. For those of you are not familiar with ALS, it is an extremely debilitating disease. In a healthy person, motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to thier demise. As voluntary muscle action progressively becomes affected, she will lose the ability to speak, move and breathe. 
She is already experiencing the signs of this terrible disease in a very short period of time. She is having problems speaking, swallowing and the use of her hands. We know, in time, she will be home bound sooner than we would like to see.  Unfortunately, disabilities like this require a lot of therapy and 24 hours a day care. The medical bills are already starting to accumulate and due to the fact she is unable to work this is causing a huge financial strain on her and her family.  
For this reason, I am asking for donations to be given to Shawn to help offset the financial burden and to give her and her husband some piece of mind. Even the smallest contributed amount amongst many will add up and make a significant impact in the quality of her days to come.
