Shaun’s fight against Cancer

Shaun’s Story.

July 2, 2019 my husband Shaun Outridge was admitted to Grand River Hospital. In the weeks leading up to his admission, Shaun had been suffering from severe debilitating stomach pains, loss of appetite, sleep and an onslaught of other symptoms that were first diagnosed and mistaken for kidney stones. The tests began.  Blood work, ultrasounds, CT scans, Bone Marrow Aspiration + Biopsy to name a few.  Finally, the diagnosis.  The Doctors diagnosed my 36-year-old husband with B-cell Lymphoma. Stage 4, aggressive blood cancer. Our lives forever changed. Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a treatable cancer that responds well through Chemotherapy. And so, our journey begins.

Shaun has been through a great deal (to say the least) in the past few weeks and completed his first-round of Chemotherapy on July 12, 2019.  The plan, as we’re told, will be to have multiple rounds of Chemotherapy (over the course of the next 6-8 months) all the while, his progress will be closely monitored.

We have two beautiful children ages 5 and 3. Their Daddy is finally home, and we are adjusting to our ‘new’ life with a positive and promising outlook for the future.

Weeks before Shaun’s admission he was dismissed from his employer, leaving no access to insurance or Benefits coverage.  Feeling vulnerable and at the most trying time in our lives, we could use your help.  Despite the wheels being in motion to receive a Disability salary, the process is lengthy and will be weeks (if not months) before we will see any Government support.  While I am committed to do my best, I am self-employed and can offer no support from the perspective of Benefits-coverage either.

Donations to our GoFundMe will be used toward the cost of medication, to offset some of our living expenses with one-income and reduce the burden of the financial stress while we fight this battle together.  Anything you might be willing to donate during this overwhelming time, will help Shaun focus his energy on battling his cancer.

Thank you for all the love and support! ❤️
