Sharon’s Vet Relief fundraiser

Without a doubt 2020 has been a challenging year for us all, but for many even more so. My friend and co-worker has been one of the “many”. Sharon’s family has had their fair share of heartbreak and tragedies the past couple of years and when I say one after the other, I am not exaggerating. The one thing that brought her out of the darkness and helped her to heal throughout her grief process was her Mothers Day gift last year, her bulldog Boston! Since day one the two of them have been inseparable and we have watched him grow as she shared all of his milestones and gushed about how their bond is one of a kind! Sharon too is a one of a kind pet parent! Her fur babies are treated like family and only have the best of the best on top of being smothered with unconditional love. I lead with this to better explain her current situation and why she needs our help. In July of this year her Labrador, Duke, required emergency surgery to clear an intestinal blockage after eating a tug-of-war rope. Unfortunately one surgery wasn’t enough due to complications and he ended up requiring two more. Thankfully Duke is now recovered and doing great! Then in October Boston started having some “allergy like” symptoms and drainage out of one side of his nose. Sharon had him examined at the vet and got him started on medication. Initially the medicine was thought to have worked but then in November Boston’s symptoms started up again and now included nose bleeding from the left side. Back to the vet they went where Boston had some more treatment and new medicine. Nothing was working and Boston was referred to the Specialist Vet Clinic in Columbia,Sc. Boston had a special procedure called a Rhinoscopy and had Biopsy’s taken of the tissue inside his nose. He spent the night in Columbia and came home the next day with more new medicine and a “wait and see” approach for the biopsy results. Unfortunately on Tuesday, December 8th, Sharon received the results of the biopsy’s and Boston has an extremely rare and aggressive form of nasal cancer called, Anaplastic Carcinoma. There is no cure for nasal carsinoma in dogs and Sharon has made the selfless and difficult decision to forego any treatment and opted for comfort care only at home while she soaks in every last memory with her precious Boston. Obviously she has incurred many large vet bills and we would love nothing more than to help ease that burden off of her shoulders so she can just focus on Boston and her healing after he crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Again, we know it’s been a challenging year and currently Christmas but if you can find it in your heart to donate any amount, we would so appreciate it! Sharon is the type of person that will do anything and everything she can for those she loves and cares about and we just want to help her to lighten this load as much as possible. So far all of the bills for both of their fur babies have totaled somewhere around $9000 so anything would be greatly appreciated to help out! We would also accept any prayers or thoughts of encouragement in leu of monetary support. Thank you!
