Sharky the street cat needs care

Donation protected
A few years ago I moved into a duplex in the Bed Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn. On my very first day, as I sat on the stoop alone, a cat approached me. He was friendly and knew how to manipulate me into buying him cans of tuna on the regular.

Soon those cans of tuna became cans of cat food and, once winter hit, there was no way I was going to let him live outside. He became my cat. His name is Sharky.

He's always been the picture of good health. After all, he's only around four(nobody knows his exact age, as he comes from the streets.)

A few days ago he stopped eating, sporadically at first. With it came a whole lot of water drinking. When he does eat, he vomits it back up almost immediately. He is sick and in desperate need of care.

I just got back from the vet and there was a hefty amount of fluid in his lungs and one of his lungs has partially collapsed. The vet thinks, but isn't sure, that this is a heart condition of some kind. This requires more testing, including a visit to the cardiologist tomorrow, blood work and fluid work.

That's where you guys come in. I don't have the money for all of these tests. I've already spent nearly $1,000 and I desperately do not want to lose him as he's still young and should still have a good decade in him of drinking water only via faucet, putting on charming shows for guests and scratching my arms up to high heaven.

In other words, the situation is URGENT. I'm not even sure how I'm going to afford tomorrow's cardiologist appointment(estimated $800) let alone whatever comes after. The fluid and blood tests are around $275 each. The vet has also reccomended an overnight stay at the ER but said there would be a $2,000 price tag so I am risking him at home tonight and am just going to keep watch and start practicing that whole "praying to a higher power" thing.
He's my buddy and he deserves to live. Please share to ayone you can think of and share as much as you can or as little as you can. I would NEVER do this for my own health but I couldn't forgive myself if I didn't put all options on the table for his sake. Thank you so much for reading this, from me and from Sharky.
