Sharing Trudy's Burden

Donation protected
We are sharing what is happening in the life of our friend and co-worker, Trudy, in the hope you and others will share their burden. We believe theirs is a worthy cause.

In 1990 at the young age of 25, Trudy received the shocking diagnosis of advanced breast cancer.  Her husband left her but thankfully, her strong faith and supportive family strengthened Trudy as she endured surgeries and a rigorous chemotherapy regimen.  A few years later, Trudy and Eric married.

Today Trudy is our cheerful, hard-working church bookkeeper and until recently, an admin for the ministry where we work. To help ends meet, she has two additional part-time jobs on top of homeschooling their kids ages 17 and 13.  Eric, an optician, is also very active in our church. Trudy, 53, was healthy until she sought the doctor for what turned out to be a simple kidney infection (not stones).  During that exam, however, the CT scan revealed a large mass. The bleak diagnosis came 12/21/17.  Although she has no pain or symptoms, she has inoperable Stage 4 ovarian cancer (multiple masses including one near her heart).  According to the doctors, it is incurable and the best she can hope for is remission by chemo. Prognosis is maybe five years.

After much prayer, research and discussion with her family, Trudy has decided to opt for guidance from integrative specialists, undergoing genetic testing, and switching to a special diet.  Her horrendous past experience and the fact the doctors cannot guarantee success with chemo for this cancer has led her to this decision.

Trudy has insurance through a group-share policy with limited coverage. She must pay cash upfront for each appointment and test. Missing work for treatments will be another financial hardship.  Therefore, we ask that you consider a monetary Go Fund Me contribution to help offset the enormous expenses they have just begun to carry. Any amount is valuable, both one-time and recurring, as the bills mount. We also encourage sharing the Go Fund Me link with others who might be touched by their story.

Most importantly, we ask you to pray for the eradication of the cancer! Trudy knows “it is well with her soul” whether she lives or dies.  Of course, it is her desire to have more time with her loving husband and young children who need her.

Thank you for your tangible encouragement and for easing – even a little bit – the heavy burden this sweet family is enduring.
