Austin (A.J.) Zaruba truly possessed the gift of music. He shared his gift and his passion with so many others through his performances, his teaching, and his directing. If you have made your way to this page, you have likely been impacted by Austin's voice, as well as his smile and ability to send everyone into fits of laughter.
The Tipton High School Class of 2005 invites you to take part in preserving our memories of Austin and sharing his musical gifts for lifetimes to come. Our goal is to commission the composing of a choral piece in honor of Austin. We hope that this piece could be performed back on the THS stage where Austin performed not only as part of the choir, but as a band member, and in theatrical productions as well. We would also hope that perhaps the Wartburg choir, of which Austin was an alum, would one day perform this piece. We would love to see and hear this song reaching choirs and audiences beyond our local communities, truly spreading Austin's gift, and bringing joy and healing to the depths of souls that only music can reach.
If you are a high school classmate, college classmate, or perhaps even a former student of Austin's, or if you simply wish to take part in honoring our friend, please consider a donation to our cause. We have received an estimate of $2,500 to commission a choral piece. Our class has already raised $700, so we have set a goal of an additional $1,800. The song would be presented not just as a gift from the Class of 2005, but would be inclusive of all who share in this memorial.
