PRESERVING AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE OF NEW AMERICANS AND EMPOWERING THEM TO LEARN AND EARN FROM THE LOCAL FOOD MOVEMENT.
Please support our vision to create a working farm for education and training exclusively for charitable, cultural and educational purposes.
Our goals include: (a) preserving and promoting the agricultural heritage of local immigrants and refugees in our community; (b) regularly bringing online awareness programs and also publishing other literary materials at different times; and (c) developing a major urban agricultural project for economic development and education, nourishing the community with local food and empowering resettled refugee trainees in Northeast Ohio providing them with employment, education and training.
We have a small demonstration garden in the international neighborhood district of Akron's North Hill. We still need garden tools, shelter and security fence and gates just for the double lot community garden.
Then, we need resources to buy farmland outlying Akron to raise livestock and grow vegetables--providing an agricultural training facility for those refugees--many Bhutanese--who have lost their farms and agricultural heritage by coming to America. Buildings, tools, feed, plants, truck...it all adds up!
We want our refugees to regain their agricultural heritage by supplementing their income with the farming practices they once knew and cherished and flourished as human beings.
