"I want to thank EVERYONE for your donations, prayers and support. My family and I are in awe of the amount of love you have given to us in our time of need.

Much love to you and your family from me and my family.

UPDATE: Shannon has undergone 5 of 8 anticipated chemo treatments. Not without side effects, Shannon became severely neropenic, which means she was severely immune suppressed. She was hospitalized and had to receive transfusions: since her diagnosis she received 5 units of blood and 3 units of platelets. Next week she gets a PET to see what progress has been made. Due to insurance limitations, she will most likely go to the University of Minnesota, instead of Mayo Clinic, for the possibility of a bone marrow transplant.

Read on for the original story...

This is Shannon. Shannon needs our help. Shannon has recently and abruptly been diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. This is a rare and dangerous form of blood cancer. Lymphomas are graded at stage 4.

Her treatment consists of aggressive chemotherapy every 21 days that require 3 to 5 days in the hospital. On days 2 and 8, after intravenous chemotherapy treatments, she gets a lumbar puncture and chemotherapy is administered directly to her cerebro spinal fluid (CSF). She has a port for her regular chemotherapy treatments, and now has an ommaya reservoir for the chemo treatment going into her CSF. Eventually, she will need to go to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, for a bone marrow transplant.

This is also Shannon.

And this.

And this.

And this.

She is a mother of four, a loving wife, a role model, a mentor, and has volunteered in the community in so many ways, including most recently serving on the Community Action Duluth board of directors, the Advisory committee for Independent School District 709 Harbor City board, Together for Health and the Parent Advisory boards for Myers Wilkins public school,  being a public speaker and advocate for homelessness intervention, a tutor for individuals getting their GED, and a program facilitator and teacher for intensive summer science outreach programs . She is employed full time as a scientist, professor, and lab coordinator.

Shannon is AMAZING.
Those who have met her, know this.

Shannon is my best friend; it is because of her friendship and support and relentless coaxing that I ran my first marathon -with her, finished my master's degree, and made life-changing choices about my own health.

Shannon is an important person to so many people. She inspires those she meets with her incredible energy and optimism and her giving ways.  She is one of those unstoppable forces who, when she puts her mind to something, she does it.

She has already overcome so much to get to where she is today. She has overcome homelessness and achieved a graduate degree in the sciences, all while growing and sustaining her family.

See what I mean? SHE IS INCREDIBLE.

But now, she may have met her greatest challenge to overcome and she needs our support.  She doesn't want to ask for help, so I am doing it for her because her and her family needs assistance to overcome the impending medical bills and lost wages of long term blood cancer treatment.
Any amount you can give is hugely appreciated!
