HELP SHANNON HELP OTHERS FLUNK CANCER

Donation protected
We have lost our precious Shannon. Shannon passed on April 11, 2019. Shannon was surrounded by her family and peacefully transferred into the next life with the birds singing, the sun shinning with a clear path to heaven.

Shannon always did and will continue to help others. Shannon's legacy will live on through the Flunk Cancer foundation which she was a member of the board of directors. Shannon wanted this foundation to help support other teachers and their families battling cancer as they navigate the many avenues they'll face trying to win their fight. We thank you for your many thoughts and prayers and hope you consider Shannon's "Flunk Cancer" foundation with a tax deductible contribution.

Shannon had a motto for the last few years "Just livin" I hope all of you take her advice and live your lives like there's no tomorrow, because one day there will be no tomorrow.

We will keep this gofundme campaign up for Landen's education and ask you to keep Charlie in your prayers as he is about to face a world without his best friend, his lover, his wife and having to raise this impressive young man by himself.

In closing I just want to say I love you Shannon, and I'll see you soon... Love Uncle Chris

Our brave and beautiful Shannon McHone, mother, teacher, sister, daughter, niece, granddaughter, wife and friend, is courageously battling Grade III Infiltrating Anaplastic Glioma, a cancer in her brain. Tomorrow (12/29/14) she will undergo a delicate surgery to remove this cancerous tumor at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC and we ask for your prayers. Your contribution to Shannon will help her fund this costly battle, which will take the better part of 2015 with chemotherapy, radiation, and clinical trials. Thank you in advance for your love, prayers, and kind consideration.

From my twin brother, Shannon’s father John:

After almost 5 years of birthdays, Holidays, anniversaries, summers, vacations and life, the time has come again for me to offer an update to all of our friends, families and well wishers around the world. These five years included the last three with annual MRI's that showed no progression. It seemed life was finally back to normal. In late October however, Shannon experienced a couple of mild seizures on the left side that, on their own wouldn't cause much concern. That they represented a change suggested we should at least move up her next MRI. Our family found out the day before Thanksgiving that the tumor had returned. Biopsy results that came in this past Friday told us the full extent of his maturity as tumor, while much smaller than a double ping pong ball size of 5 years ago, the tumor has graduated to a WHO Grade III Infiltrating Anaplastic Glioma. It is now officially cancer.

As a family, we are now in the process of developing the next courses of action for Shannon as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation are all in the not too distant future. Like last time, we will need the thoughts and prayers of our extended family and friends. Like last time, I am sure we will all find Shannon as a source of strength and courage. This time the battle will be different. That said, we expect the same results; more birthdays, Holidays, anniversaries and life. As you join us in this struggle, please check back often for updates on Shannon's journey as we will be using the CaringBridge website for a way to keep our family and friends up to date on her progress. More importantly, we will be looking forward to the well wishes and words of support of our family and friends. Last time Shannon found true inspiration in the love and support she received from you all while we were being inspired by her. Please join us in being inspired again.
