I am Shannon Austin aka "Silva", husband, father, US Army veteran, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, audio engineer, and citzen of the world.
And now cancer victim...
On May 6, 2016 I recieved the devastating news of a cancerous mass in my right lung! (carcinoid cancer)

"Because of the position of the mass, I will be prone to serious health issues that are life threatening in nature. The only treatment option is to cut it out."

***This MASS has been inside Shannon for at least three years undiagnosised/undetected, so now, it is larger in size and needs to be surgerically removed immeditaley***
WHY?
Shannon and Shirley have plunged all their personal resources into a business they started and is currently their only source of income. They've dedicated themselves to being a successful part of the small business community in Huntsville Alabama's startup echo-system. As small business owners they have not gotten any medical insurance for themselves, and so this new development has the potential to completely destroy them financially.
So in addition to the physical and emotional toll caused by this diagnosis, Shannon and Shirley will also face severe financial burdens. They are setting up this GoFundMe account as a way for friends, family, and their support system to show their love.

A LITTLE HISTORY
Shannon had major surgery (open heart) back in 2006 and the cost of that whole process was in excess of $100,000 (medical only). This will be a very similar operation once all is said and done.
We had great insurance then...
Although Shannon does have access to the Veterans Affairs Medical system; he still has to pay a signficant amount out of pocket because of his level of eligability. ***ALL VETERANS DO NOT GET THE SAME LEVEL OF BENEFITS***
WHAT?
We need your help! The tremendous costs associated with all of this is something we cannot handle on our own. So we are calling on our team/family (family, friends, and their sphere of influence) to help us defeat this formitable enemy. My mother, Alfoncie Austin is a cancer survivour, and that is my plan as well!
Any funds raised will be used to relieve the hefty financial burden associated with this process. Of course the major expense is the surgery and treament itself. But there are other major expenses that include but are not limited to: The complete cycle of care; pre-op prep | surgery | post op rehab | cancer care through out; Travel expenses to out of state appointments and procedures;
Home/Living expenses while away from work.

We would like to get Shannon the best treatment available as soon as possible, giving him the best oppurtunity for a favorable outcome
Vanderbilt Hospital and Nashville VA Medical Center Cancer Center are pioneering medical centers and are partners at the cancer center (VICC ). Vandy is where Shannon had is heart surgery. Houston VA Medical Center has also made some advancements in this area and could be an alternative treatment facility.
Shannon is on the clock and needs to get his team/family mobilized immediately!
