Shannon's Cervical Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
During this April, our mom found out that she has cervical cancer. This news was completely unexpected since the gynecologist she went to basically ruled out the possibility of cancer because it didn't "look like cancer" to him. However, after the biopsy results came back my mom was scheduled to see a gynecologic oncologist.

The oncologist confirmed our mom, Shannon, has Stage 1 cervical cancer after examination . That same day is when she had to  get a series of tests including x-rays and bloodwork. A couple days ago, she had a MRI done to determine the size of the tumor and lymph node mapping.  As of right now, we haven't heard the results of the test.  She has surgery scheduled for Monday, April 29th. So, since we do not know the size we do not know the type of surgery she has to have, but we are trying to prepare for either.

Currently, the oncologist she has to go to is over an hour away from home and our dad is the one driving her. He hasn't been able to work on jobs and is trying to stay strong to support her.  The costs of all the tests, appointments, gas, and pre-surgery items are adding up quickly.

If the tumor is smaller than 3 centimeters, she will be able to do the Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy. Any bigger than that he said she would have to do open surgery, which means a longer recovery time among other things. The recovery time for the Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy is still 3-6 weeks long and she is essentially unable to do anything for a while.  Whichever option the surgeon goes with, everything besides her ovaries is being taken out along with some high-risk lymph nodes. Her ovaries are being left in due to being only 41.

This has all happened in a matter of a week and we're trying to process it all. This experience is scary enough without the money adding up and that is why we are reaching out for help.

We may receive new information after the surgery, but this is where it all stands right now. I hope to post updates to be completely transparent with anyone who wants to join our family through this rough time. We would appreciate if you could please share to get more supporters for our cause!!
