On August 21, 2018, while vacationing with her husband in Barcelona, Spain, Shannon Smith tragically lost her life. She was six months pregnant with their son, Louis, at the time. In her memory, Shannon's husband, mother, and close friend have come together to establish the Shannon Marie & Louis Porter Smith Foundation. Shannon was an outstanding emergency department and ICU nurse at the UW Hospital, and was set to launch her career as a Nurse Practitioner with UW Health in September 2018. To honor that legacy, the foundation is focused on giving back to Shannon's alma mater, the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Nursing, by providing annual scholarships. Your generosity will honor the vision Shannon had to care for her community. A gift in Shannon and Louis' name will afford future students the opportunity to advance their nursing career.
