Shang Chi Challenge
Help AAPI Youth Attend A Special Movie Screening To Celebrate The
Very First Asian Marvel Superhero, Shang Chi!
#ShangChiChallenge

I am proudly born, raised and have so loved growing up in Oakland, California, one of the most diverse and beautiful cities in the State, with a significantly large Asian population. It would be an incredible honor and privilege to be able to give our local AAPI Youth the opportunity to finally see themselves represented in Shang Chi, And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, the very first Marvel film featuring Asian Superheroes, also made by Asian filmmakers, and featuring a marvelous array of Asian Culture.

Particularly on the heels of the recent violence and racism directed towards our Asian elders and others in Oakland Chinatown and the surrounding communities, being able to see Shang Chi in a movie theater would help create an extremely enlightening and fun experience that could benefit and continue the healing process, while positively impacting how our Asian youth see themselves being represented.

Shang Chi is dynamically rich in Asian culture, with spectacular cinematography, and such an amazingly deep story line, showing the conflict, growth, embracing and acceptance of oneself, unconditionally supportive friends, the trials and tribulations most families must navigate and endure, and the ultimate strength, bond and unlimited power of the love of one’s family…truly an epic way to celebrate of our Asian Heritage, one that every child should experience and enjoy during this unique event.

The Shang Chi Challenge Goal of sending 100 children and their chaperones to a private movie theater screening of Shang Chi, by the end of THIS WEEK, BEFORE the Disney+ release, would be incredible! Many theaters are already in the process of pulling Shang Chi from our local theaters to make room for newer movies, so your immediate consideration of donating to this Event would be gratefully appreciated.

What a monumental moment we hope to share, encouraging our AAPI youth to be proud of their Asian roots in such a phenomenally fun way. The significance and impact these children and their families will experience, finally seeing themselves represented in this magnificent Asian Superhero Marvel film, together within the beautiful community of other families in attendance is immeasurable, one surely that will always be fondly remembered.

Thank you so much for your consideration in supporting this Event.
