Park in Memory of Shane Miller

Donation protected

Our dear son and brother Shane Miller tragically passed away on August 5, 2014. He was a kind, compassionate, wonderful person who we all miss deeply. One of his favorite past times was playing Frisbee with his family. It brought us joy to see a big smile on his face.

Shane suffered from a battle with mental illness throughout the past 4 years. As many of you know, and many of you don't know, Shane committed suicide. We believe that he is now in peace and that he is wrapped in Gods arms. He is in his heavenly home. We feel his love every day and because of our faith in God's promises, we know we will see him again.

We would like to extend the option to donate toward a project close to our hearts: ”Fairways of Hope” is the name of a frisbee disc golf course the Moraine Rotary is building in memory of Shane. Shane is the son of a current Moraine Rotarian, Dave Miller. We hope this park will increase awareness, understanding, and support for people and their families who are affected with mental illness.

There will be 18 holes with inspirational and encouraging words that we hope will uplift those who are enjoying this activity. We want the “Fairways of Hope” to be a place where people who are suffering with a mental illness and families affected by mental illness or a loss of a loved one can find peace and hope. Maybe one day this park will be a place for families to honor their loved ones that have passed away.

Thus far we have raised 60% of construction funding. Please help us to reach our goal of raising another $5000+. Thank you for everyone who has already donated toward this project! We appreciate everyone’s love, support and many prayers for our family over the last several months. It has given us the strength to carry on.

If you are unable to contribute financially, you still hope you will join us at the ribbon cutting for the "Fairways of Hope" -- which will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11am at the beautiful Deer Meadow Park located at 4321 Pinnacle Road, Moraine, OH.
