Precious women, children, and men (by default--since the focus of our mission will be women and children) of Santo Dominigo, Dominican Republic will benefit from the funds that you dontate here.
Myself and a team of 19 other health professionals (surgeons, midwifes, medical techs, nurses, and health educators) will be going to the Dominican Republic (DR) from October 13th-October 21st. The first few days of our trip will be spent serving women during a retreat in the DR--we will provide educational workshops and help serve the women there by doing their nails.
After serving at the retreat, we will prep for surgeries. Surgeries that women have needed for months/years will be provided free of cost to them (we will pay for the total hospital stay and meds).
Our team will also help women cope with labor during childbirth and deliver babies. There will be many opportunities in the hospital to serve and support the workers and families there. We will spend time during that week in the bateys (villages of Haitian sugar cane cutters living in deep and unrelenting poverty in the DR) educating women and providing wellness exams. There will even be a day spent at an orphanage there. We do have a day of rest planned during the trip. I look forward to this experience to be a blessing to others and rest and reflect for a day with team who was able to share the experience with me.
To be able to do all of this, we need financial support! This trip needs to be fully funded by the end of this month, September 30th. There are many people praying for us and the people there in the DR are just as expectant as we are. We know that this trip will be a blessing, and we know that there are people who are able and willing to provide financial support to make this mission a success. Please pray about this opportunity!
