Shalom SCCRR NI - Step Out For Africa Charity Walk 2024

We are fundraising for Shalom Center for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation in Kenya. We are a registered charity with the Northern Ireland Charity Commission (RC106640).

All fundraising money will go towards the following projects in Africa;

-School/Educational Development

-Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding Interventions

-Women Empowerment in the Urban Informal Settlements in Nairobi

-Empowering Women with education in holistic skills, survival skills and self-esteem

-Using analytical skills and techniques to empower Peacebuilding in conflict environments among Tribal Opinion Shapers.

Finally, the most recent Shalom project completed was the opening of The Joseph and Mary Centre in the Nairobi settlements. This centre was set up to help support women who have been abused. They provide medical and psychological support.

The Rev. Dr Patrick Devine SMA is the founder of SCCRR from Ireland and has worked in Africa for the past 35 years. Members of his team are from Africa or Ireland and have been university educated in Peacebuilding studies, with Masters or Doctorate qualifications.

The charity serves all people, those of Christian and Non-Christian denominations.

We have a committee consisting of a chair, deputy chair, secretary and treasurer. All funds donated are lodged in Danske Bank Account, Limavady.

We have been fundraising for the past 10 years and on the 25th August 2024 at 2:30pm we are commencing a charity walk. We will be walking from Da Vinci's Hotel carpark, Derry/Londonderry around the Pennyburn Bridge, Peace Bridge and the Foyle Bridge. The walk will last approximately 2.5 hours. Alternatively, we are completing a 'Walk and Talk' of the Derry Walls at 2:30pm. Registration commences at 1:30pm at Da Vinci's carpark.
