Shaldon Wildlife Trust Needs You

UPDATE 12/01/2021 - We are now in another National Lockdown from 5th January 2021, this means our main source of income, our visitors, is completely cut off from us. As a small charity we have weathered one of the most difficult years in our history and unfortunately cannot currently see an end. The money donated via this fundraiser goes fully back to the zoo, caring for the animals and helps us save some of the most endangered species on the planet.

I know we are all suffering from this pandemic but please if you can donate it will mean everything to us and our special charges.

Even though the government has announced a £100 million fund to support zoos, just 3 zoos have benefitted from this so far. In order to qualify for it we must be down to just 12 weeks reserves and even then the fund doesn't cover basics such as rent/mortgages or insurance, all things crucial to actually being able to open to the public.

So once we again we must ask for your help, please donate so we can continue to care for the many endangered species we have here at the zoo, so we can assist with the preservation of animals across the world and still be here for future generations to enjoy.

Zak, Carly, Lia & Sue and all the animals at Shaldon Wildlife Trust

Shaldon Wildlife Trust is a small conservation focused zoo based in Devon. Despite our size we're known as the small zoo making a big difference, contributing to many endangered species breeding programmes and supporting conservation efforts worldwide.

The COVID-19 outbreak  has meant that like many zoos we have been forced to close our doors and as of Monday 23rd March we will not longer have any visitors to the zoo. Over 80% of income comes from the public visiting the zoo, paying admissions and purchasing things from our shop.

Unlike other businesses even if we shut the work doesn't stop, we still have to feed all our animals, many of them endangered in the wild, pay our staff to look after them as well as heating bills and so on.

The upcoming Easter holidays would have been a fruitful time for the zoo but with this no longer an option we need to do everything we can to ensure that the zoo keeps running and we can fulfil our mission of conserving some of the rarest species on the planet.

For everyone who has ever visited, donated or promoted us thank you. But now we need you more than ever.
