Rabeya's Tuition Fundraiser

Donation protected
My name is John, and I opened this page on behalf of a student of mine, Rabeya Khatun. Rabeya is a sophomore from Bangladesh studying as an exchange student to earn her B.A. at Sias International University in China. Last year she was in my macroconomics class and we became good friends. Despite large language and cultural challanges she has managed to succeed in being a good student! But now she is in danger of losing her chance to complete her education.
Last fall, Rabeya's father fell gravely ill and is now permanently disabled. His hospital bills wiped out the family's savings, and he can no longer work--or afford college tuition for his daughter. When Rabeya received this news, her choices were either return to Bangladesh, where she fears her father will arrange for her to get married into a “good” family, or fight for her chance to finish her degree and pursue a career.
Rabeya chose to fight. She does not want to give up and get married. Instead, she says: “I want to do something myself, and I want to prove that a girl can do anything and handle any situation. I want to open my own business someday, and I do not want to just give up my dreams.”
Rabeya managed to pay her own tuition for this spring semester by cooking, cleaning and babysitting for myself and other teachers, as well as wiping out what little she had of her own savings. But the deadline to pay her tuition bill for the fall semester is now looming, and the uncertainty of whether or not she will be able to pay it is difficult to manage. Rabeya is in class for 24 hours per week, leaving her to balance the need to work to stay in school with the need to study and complete her homework in order to do well in her classes. Working is not optional, but it is coming at a cost to her studies, which deserve to be every student's top priority.                                 Nonetheless, she is fighting on for her education.
If together we can raise just enough to cover Rabeya's tuition and required school fees for the next two years, she will be able to work enough to pay for her living expenses while leaving enough time to study and achieve her dream of independence. It is a small amount for an education that will forever ensure the course of Rabeya's life is in her own control as much as anyone's can be.

Please, help Rabeya stay in school.
