Shakespeare's calling..

My name is Todd Chung, and I am a NY-based actor. I have been acting professionally for the past three and a half years on numerous television and film productions throughout NYC. My eagerness to obtain work has afforded me the opportunity to join the Screen Actors Guild, which is a tremendous accomplishment for professional actors. I strongly believe that God has guided my life in this direction in order to be a blessing to others through the art of performance. Something I stumbled into and have often thought of as a beautiful accident has now become my passion.

I have created this fundraiser because I applied to one of the top acting schools in London, England, known as LAMDA , or London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, to be a part of an eight-week Summer Shakespeare course. Somewhat anxiously awaiting their reply, I was pleasantly surprised to receive confirmation that a spot had been reserved for me to attend this course. The course begins on June 25 and ends on August 17, and I am including exact details with how I plan to use any funds raised. I am constantly looking to strengthen my craft because I believe it is an essential part of the formula that results in a meaningful lifelong career.

While I am diligently working stateside, my efforts are simply not enough so I am asking for any help that I can get towards bringing this to fruition. The cost of attendance is $7060 and includes all aspects of the program from start to finish, such as trips to theater shows and historical visits. As an American studying abroad, I am required to obtain a short-term visa, $138, to legally remain in the country for the intended length of the program. In total, I am asking for $10,000 to resolve expenses, which will cover round trip flight from JFK to London, food/groceries, cost of tuition and visa.

I know that change is possible when we are able to see things that are familiar, and one of my goals as a Caribbean American is to be an encouragement to other Caribbean and African Americans that want to pursue their dreams.
