SHAFQAT ALI

In Loving Memory Of Shafqat Ali (16/05/63 - 18/08/18) 


Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un is a part of a verse from the Qur'an which translates to "We belong to God and to Him we shall return." The phrase is commonly recited by Muslims upon hearing the news that a person has died.


It is with great sadness that one of our friends and family member of 'Independent Clothing' -  'Ali' passed away on Saturday 18th August after fighting with cancer and a brain tumor over this past year. 

Ali moved to Ireland over 20 years ago in order to find a better life for his family who live in Pakistan. He arrived in Ireland with little money and little English but with a big generous heart. He started working for Independent Clothing in 1999 and has stayed with us for these past 20 years. A hard-working, honest, kind and soft-spoken gentlemen with a lovely smile, Ali served our customers in the most professional manner, he never complained or shifted any of his personal worries onto anyone, he left so many positive memories for all of the staff here and as well as our customers who still ask for him. 

Ali left his family behind in Pakistan, his wife, his 3 sons and  2 daughters in order to come to Ireland to find some work to support his family back home. He would send most of his earnings back home to his family in Pakistan in order to support them. He would go for a year, sometimes 2 years without seeing his family, these are the hidden costs of immigration that few rarely see, but with Ali, he would come to work with a smile and you would never know this man had been supporting his family back home for the past 20 years.


In memory of Ali, we would like to collect as much as possible and send it to Ali's family in Pakistan in order to continue with Ali's support for them. If you would like to donate any amount, please do so through this page and we will make sure the total raised will reach his family back home.
