Shaffer House Fire & Medical Bills

To my wonderful, big-hearted viewers, this mother and her family need our help.

On September 1st, while Cheryl and her family were away camping, they received news that their family home was on fire.

The fire was not caused by anything left on. The inspection came up with nothing, so their best guess was a mouse chewing into wiring in the house which sparked the fire.

Although they were safe from the fire, they lost two of their beloved pets, Trouble and Blue along with many personal items and irreplaceable family keepsakes. The fire and ash left two perfect outlines of their cats on their carpets. An amazing yet heartbreaking way to remember something they loved so much.

Along with what seems like an endless battle of ups and downs, Cheryl has been dealing with thyroid cancer since 2013 and the physical and emotional struggles that come with treating it. She has had two surgeries followed with radiation therapy and will eventually be needing a third. She is hoping to see a specialist based in Tampa, FL who has had great success with his patients. However, due to her insurance policy changing, she may no longer be able to see anyone out of network, putting more financial strain on an already devastating situation.The donations from this page will be given to Cheryl and her family in full to cover what her insurance isn't covering and the daily cost of living while their family home is being rebuilt. Their insurance is covering very little compared to what they lost and what needs to be done. For a while they were able to stay in their trailer, but because it was hooked up to an incorrect power source, a few appliances and the invertor were blown up. They are looking at about $5,000 to fix this if they do.

It will cost approximately $50,000 just to tear down to rebuild, however they found asbestos in the upstairs ceiling and hallway, which wasn’t covered in the demo portion of the policy. They have been doing much of the labor themselves to cut down on the cost. All of this from something that was completely out of their hands and not their fault.

The money will also help with the costs of Cheryl seeing the specialist in Florida if her cancer has not spread from her neck, in which case it would be considered incurable.

After my experience talking with Cheryl and visiting her home, there was no way I couldn't try to help her. As a newly single mom myself trying to provide for my family, Cheryl told me her experience being a single mom to her children for nearly 7 years. She told me stories from her boys' childhood. Taking them on spontaneous trips, catching, "bathing", and releasing frogs while her boys giggled endlessly. Happy memories. Memories that made me feel at ease with my coming journey as a single parent and a special connection with this astoundingly strong mother.

I say #BuyCherylCoffee because this is a small amount, a small gesture, but huge when you think about how many amazing people out there who watch my family's videos.
