Let me tell you the story about Shadow. Shadow is a beautiful, sweet black lab that showed up at my neighbor’s house about 4 months ago. She was microchipped, and they contacted the person that was on the info. In a nutshell, the person had not had Shadow in years as she had left Shadow with her ex-husband. The ex-husband was contacted but never responded, so we can only assume that he does not want her back. The neighbors had her for a few weeks but could not keep her any longer and asked if we would take her in. If not, they would have had to find a shelter for her. We really didn’t want another dog, but we also didn’t want her to go to a shelter, so we took her in with the intention of finding her a new home. Well, it turned out that Shadow had a lot of issues that were due to neglect (according to the vet). She had a severe yeast infection in both her ears as well as on her skin (probably due to fleas). Her hair on her rear end was gone from the infection, and we found out that she also had a tick-borne disease (which is treatable). She has a tumor in one of her nipples that they believe to be breast cancer, and she is not spayed.

Now, we’ve already spent hundreds of dollars on vet bills thus far treating the infection and diseases and getting her vaccinated. We are asking for assistance to pay for Shadow's tumor removal surgery and spay. I recently took a new job that currently pays much less than I was making, and we have a car needing major repairs. Everything happens all at one time!
