Support Barb's Family in Their Time of Loss
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Kathryn. I am Barb's daughter in-law. We truly appreciate you taking the time to read Barb's story. Her family has been blindsided by the loss of their mother, sister, grandma, and friend. Starting off with the beginning of barbs fight with cancer. She had been recently diagnosed with bone cancer which started in her spine, and then a small piece that had been noticed in her lung. At the beginning of her fight she had been told by a few doctors that she would be able to beat this awful news, and that there was high hopes that she would be able to hold her new grandbaby presley if she would proceed on with getting back surgery and treatments. All this news was relayed to her in February. After an updated biopsy in May they decided to do the back surgery in an attempt to remove the tumor that has been pushing and eventually fractured her spine. Throughout the following couple months she got her port put in and continued on with the treatments. With high hopes of shrinking the cancer, the hospital struggled with trying to find the chemo that would agree with her and not put more of a toll on her body. This unfortunately was not the case and put her through at least a couple months of excruciating pain and uncomfort, without any pain soothing medication. They struggled to manage her pain and she had been in and out of hospitals with them turning her away from finding the deeper cause of this pain. With Barb fighting to not go back into the hospital and having to leave her children and grandchildren especially her new grandbaby at home, she then had no other choice but to go in the ambulance to the closest hospital in the area. With conflicting scans, they came to discover her cancer had spread to her spine, hip, and liver and with her spine she had multiple places in back where the tumors had burst and broken her back more. As you all may know this is very devastating news to have to give to her children who are 22 and 27 and have only had their mother since their dad had passed on December 15th 2017. I have come to tell Barb's story from a girl who had the pleasure to meet her and be a part of this wonderful family. We are asking for donations to help with some final expenses that have been left on her children who would like to give their mother Barb a gracious memorial and be able to follow with her wishes and to provide for her loving animals she has to leave behind. To tell a little bit more about Barb and who she was... Barb enjoyed spending lots of time with her sister Karen, and many nieces and nephew's who live over 2 hours away down in Pittsburgh. She also spent her time being a teachers aid and janitor at the local high school west forest located in Tionesta, PA. You could also find Barb cooking at the well known bar the Hickory Nut Inn located in East Hickory. She spent a lot of her time enjoying watching football and Hockey especially the Penguins and the Steelers with her son and daughter. In hopes of reaching this goal we would like to be able to go out to San Diego to one of her favorite spots that she talked about often where she was first Married and lived on an Army base and adored. Her wishes where she would like to have a little bit of her memory spread out there by the beautiful ocean where she spent most of her time adoring.
