Hello:
We are a Destination Imagination team from East High School, a public school in Youngstown, Ohio. Destination Imagination is a competition that challenges teams of students to develop creative solutions to a variety of real-world problems and then present their solutions at regional and state tournaments.
Our team recently competed against teams from across the State of Ohio and came in 1st place in the main challenge and 2nd place overall in the Project Outreach challenge. We chose Anti-Bullying as a community need and created a logo and a jingle that deals with the Anti-Bullying theme.
The win at the state tournament advanced us to the Global Finals at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville Tennesse. The team will be leaving on May 18th for the competition, and we have most of the funds, thanks to our school District, Youngstown City Schools, and fundraising. But, we still need to cover our other expenses such as mandatory T-shirts, pins, food, and other travel and incidental expenses to, during, and from the trip to Tennessee.
Pin trading at Global Finals is encouraged so that kids and teens get the chance to trade unique pins and meet other Global Finals participants from all over the world. Pin trading also shows good sportsmanship among the participants.
Our school is in an Urban School District, and this trip to Tennessee will be a once in a lifetime experience for most of the team, especially the two seniors who are "1st timers" on a Destination Imagination team.
We are very proud to represent our community and school district, and we would be very grateful for any donation you can provide. No donation is too small.
The team members are Kayla Mitchell, Tyaonnia Fox-Davis, LaDonna Bennett and Devon Culver, and the team manager is Jeanne Constantino.
