Sgt. Steve Splan

Sgt. Splan passed away after suffering a medical emergency while on-duty. Sergeant Steven Splan suffered a fatal heart attack several hours after cutting and removing a large tree that had fallen onto Bloomfield Hills Parkway east of Woodward Avenue at approximately 12:30 pm. He returned to the station and was found unresponsive at approximately 11:00 pm.
Sgt. Splan was known for his quick wit, infectious smile and genuine concern for others. Sgt. Splan has been with the Department for 15 years and served in a variety of roles during his tenure. Most of all, Sgt. Splan had an unbridled passion to serve his community. He leaves behind a wife and four daughters (ages 16, 13, 10, and 8). Funds obtained through this will be used to offset the future costs to the family so that the loss of Steve is minimized.
