Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money for SF Bay Brazilian Day 2021, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about BrasArte the Damasceno Brazilian Cultural Exchange: BrasArte has four major goals:
1 To preserve the traditional dances and music of Brazil
2 To preserve the historical roots of Brazil's vibrant culture by helping to support and care for its aging artists and mentors
3 To nurture new and emerging artistic talent
4 To provide cultural exchange between Brazil and the United States
SF Bay Brazilian Day & Lavagem Festival has been a cornerstone of cultural enrichment in Berkeley for over 15 years.
The BrasArte family, Bay Area residents & greater Brazilian immigrant community have benefited from the beauty and art of this festival and the pride it provides. Last year due to the Covid 19 pandemic, to the sadness of many, the festival was forced to move online.
This year, BrasArte is bringing the festival back outdoors in our neighborhood once more! But we need your support: the cost of this FREE TO ALL festival has risen with artists and staff (understandably) in need of more financial support after a very rough year, and with our limited money making capabilities (no indoor bar, or pre-lavagem fundraisers allowed in our Casa de Cultura, limits on the amount of vendors, etc), the added costs of our new safety measures, and Brasarte’s precarious financial situation as a small arts non-profit surviving the pandemic, have made it impossible to concur the costs of Lavagem by ourselves. Please support this amazing festival through donating and sharing this GoFundMe page with friends & family.
Total festival cost: $26,000
$10,000 City of Berkeley Arts Grant (to be received at end of September, long after the bills come in!)
