Sewing for our NHS and keyworkers

Hello there! My name is Kerrie Padmore, owner of the sewing and crafting business ‘Living In Loveliness’. On April 1st 2020, I set up a new group on Facebook called ‘Sewing for our NHS’. I had no idea just how fast and far this group would grow or how many areas up and down the country would be supported by our wonderful team of volunteers. As a sewing tutor, I’m so incredibly humbled and proud to be part of a huge team of coordinators and drivers who are making collections from our huge network of stitchers and delivering so many uniform bags and headbands to those requesting our support. Our volunteers are gifting their time, skills and resources to support our NHS workers. To date, the stitchers in the group have been using up their own supplies and stashes as well as spending their own money buying in cotton, thread, fabric, buttons and elastic when resources are drying up. Not only that, but they are all covering the postage costs too. We are cutting, sewing, coordinating and delivering around the clock and in less than eleven days, we have sewn and gifted over 3000 uniform bags and 1000 headbands.
To help support our selfless volunteers, we are seeking your support and donations to cover the costs of buying more fabric, threads and other resources plus helping with postage fees. We would really appreciate your help as although we have been gifted a lot of fabric, we still have many volunteers out there who have either no supplies or the finances to pay for them but do have the skills and the time to support the cry for help from our front line workers and NHS staff. Any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated! They will be used to buy in more fabrics, buttons, elastic, ribbon and thread which we will then post out to volunteers as well as covering the costs of posting finished uniform bags and headbands to people requesting them.
